Pineapple, commonly known as “fengli” (凤梨) in Chinese, is a tropical fruit with more than 70 varieties. It is one of the four famous fruits of the Lingnan region of China.

The flesh of a pineapple is golden yellow, with a rich aroma, a pleasantly sweet-and-sour flavor, and a crisp, juicy texture. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that breaks down proteins.
